The Domain Name System (DNS) is what translates I.P. addresses to domain names, and domain names to I.P. addresses. Domain names make it easier to remember sites. Ex.- It is much easier to remember examplesite.com, as opposed to an I.P. address like 145.62.36.123. Because of this, the DNS has helped the internet grow larger.
