Comments: I have several web pages hosted by doteasy.com and all I have to say is that they are an excellant company. I have been using them for about 3 years and I have never had a downtime problem, never had an e-mail problem, in fact I don't think I have ever had ANY problems. My pages are always available and what you get for the cost ($25 bucks a year is ridiculously cheap) is nothing but the best web-hosting you can ask for. They are indeed banner free, hassle free and offer some very nice tools that you can easily stick on your webpage such as guestbooks and hit counters to name a few. With each account you get 10 email addresses...wow 10...I can barely keep up with one but having that option for family members is just another reason doteasy.com is my choice for web hosting.

Comments: I would not recommend Doteasy to anyone. As a web designer, I found Doteasy and thought it would be a good option for my clients who needed free hosting services. What a hassle this has been. I transfered Client #1 to their service, which required that to waive the $35 transfer fee, Client needed to refer 2 new domains to Doteasy within 30 days and have both new domains activated. Client #1 did refer the 2 domains, one was a new domain, one was a transfer. Both were activated. Client #1 received an email that the transfer fee had been waived. End of story, or so we thought. Client #2 was the transfer from Client #1. She also had 30 days to refer 2 people and avoid the $35 transfer fee. She did refer 2 people, both of whom were declined by Doteasy, stating both their credit cards had been declined (upon contacting the banks of both referrals, neither bank had declined payments) When credit cards were re-run by Doteasy, the referrals were activated. Doteasy STILL charged the $35 fee claiming that the referrals were not made within the 30 days (they were REFERRED by that date, they weren't activated within the 30 days due to Doteasy's claim that the credit cards were declined) Upon questioning this, Doteasy stated that although the 2 new clients were referred within the 30 days, that when the cards were declined and the clients re-signed up, the 2nd sign up was after the 30 day mark so neither referral would be credited to her as a referral. Client #2 then switched to www.web1000.com, as she was not going to do business with Doteasy considering the circumstances. 4 months later Client #1 was charged $35 on her credit card, with no notification, no permission at all. Upon questioning Doteasy, they stated that although she had referred 2 clients and both were activated, that they weren't "fully activated" because one client had left Doteasy. This is ridiculous. Client #1 has filed an affidavit of fraud with her credit card and is now fighting this fee. A waiver is a waiver is a waiver. You cannot waive a fee and then 4 months later change your mind, not tell the client, and charge their card. Their customer service is terrible, they have been extremely dishonest and I would not recommend anyone doing business with Doteasy.

Comments: Doteasy.com- Well, I wish I had read the terms of service more closely upon signingup. I was brand new when I registered my domain with them and didn't do my homework. I have run searches online and read stories of many customers not being able to transfer their domains from doteasy to a different registrar such as godaddy.com or someone cheap and reliable like them. The other domains I have since registered have been with godaddy and they state very clearly that you can transfer your domain etc. anytime you want. I am only crossing my fingers I can transfer my domain when the time comes (soon). I must say, other than this complaint they have been okay. NOT a 5 star service. Maybe a 2 b/c of the terms and not stating about if you change registrars later in time it will be difficult! Nothing about this is listed in their terms. Godaddy is the best registrar, my other 3 domains have been easily registered for a cheap price and it's easy to change DNS, or even transfer your domain if you so choose

Comments: DotEasy has provided very poor service. Step 1- registration Jan 5/02-Jan 15/02 - My wife and I applied for a domain name through DotEasy and DotEasy applied to register it under the name of Edward Kathryn Haughton. I pointed this minor error out to them and it took from Jan 5 to over Jan 15 to correct. Meanwhile the registrar cancelled the application. This was after many emails. I had to go through the whole process again. Step 2 - Form mailer access (current head banging exercise) DotEasy claims it will respond to questions within 48 hours. Nonsense! I asked DotEasy how to use their form mailer or how to access it. DotEasy still has not answered my question correctly. Their response was to upgrade to FrontPage Extensions! I am sure that upgrading to FrontPage is irrelevant to the question of "how to access the form mailer". DotEasy gave me no information about hidden files to POST mail, etc. They simply recommended I upgrade to FrontPage extensions to do this (a generic response for more money). Foolishly I upgraded. Still no answer to my question about a form mailer. My web page is complete and has been on http://roosting.tripod.com with pop up banners (2 years on Tripod) and tripod has an excellent form mailer. I and remove the pop up banners. All I have done is spend $100/2 years (domain registration) plus $22.50/6 months FrontPage extensions, not necessary) and still no form mailer. I suspect it will cost me another $44/6 month for CGI etc. The service was 100% better with Tripod. I simply wanted to transfer my web site to DotEasy based on your recommendation-- sounds simple, no way! In summary, DotEasy is not a BUDGET HOST, the support service is incompetent and misleading and they are not cheap. DotEasy doesn't read or respond meaningfully to clients questions. DotEasy sends generic responses unrelated to the questions. I can't even send them a simple email, such as this) I have to go through their DotEasy site and can't send cc's, etc.

Comments: Lack of communication between support staff and billing to the customer. Just simply appears to be an attitude problem when dealing with support vs. a confusion and a "we can't stay on the same page" response from billing. Doteasy is has been simply experiencing "growing pains".

Comments: My site has been hosted on DotEasy for just over a year now, and I experienced no problems with their services. I cannot vouch for the quality of their customer service, as being an experienced web designer, I have had few difficulites with my site. Why I like DotEasy: - it's free (with the exception of domain registration, but as I needed to register my domain name anyway, this was convenient and reasonably priced.) - no banners - they do send sponsor newsletters, but in a year I have only received one, so this has not been iconvenient at all - they offer reasonably priced upgrades to use CGI/ ASP etc. - fast server & download time, even with Flash What you will not find on DotEasy: - any web building tools (this site is only good for people with a knowledge of writing and publishing web pages) - free scripts etc. (if you want forms, counters and all that you will need to create it yourself and pay for the upgrade) What I wish it did have: - better member features regarding sitet raffic showing who visits your site, where they come from etc. However, based on a recent user survey I recieved, I believe the service is being developed and may be available for a fee in the future.

Comments: This host is the kind you need watch closely. Read the fine print as I always say. They say the domain registration is as low as $18/yr plus free hosting. It`s actually $25/yr plus free hosting. Just keep your eyes to the small print and you should be able to spy the lie or possibly the truth.

Comments: I have been using Doteasy for several years and have started several websites using doteasy. The set-up is easy and everthing about the service is top notch. I have tried a few other free sites (to get some more storage), but they have all been a bigger hassle and most are no longer in business. With Doteasy`s 100 mb buddy program you can register two names and get 240 mb of storage, and that plenty for most start-up web sites. I even moved my company`s web site to their paid service a year and a half ago. Ultra hosting for $7.95/ month is very reasonable. It has been up and running without a hitch. Doteasy has been around for a while so don`t waste your time on another service. Larry H

Comments: Simply put, frustrating. Get offers from Doteasy every week or so, and finally took them up on one free iPod Shuffle 512 for signing up a client for unlimited hosting. We are in Canada, so when I noticed that the pricing was in US funds, we were about to change to CDN funds, when we noticed that the exchange rate was $1.39 when all the Canadian banks were only charging about $1.23, so changed it back to US funds, as we are with Visa who is TD, thus $1.23 exchange would apply rather than the horrific $1.39 that Doteasy wanted to charge to use our native Canadian funds! At this point, we are awaiting Doteasy to call us (that`s another thing - they send you a number, you call, and are told by a recording that they are not currently set up to handle support via phone). Hmmm ... didn;t they just send me a phone number??? No call yet, but not really expecting one either. No, I am rather disappojnted, to say the LEAST!.

Comments: Very poor customer support, very SLOW customer support. In the year 2005, they still think it is feasible to take over 24 hours to respond to a SUPPORT email! In one case, it took over two days to get a response. Their support team deleted my site once. Had been having site issues and contacted them. I asked them to contact me please before doing anything. The next morning, EVERY file had been erased. They restored the folder to default settings. NO NOTIFICATION!!! JUST COMPLETE RESTORE!!! Completely unprofessional. There are PLENTY other free and pay sites out there that are just halfway decent and they still are hundreds times better than doteasy.com. Please do your research....Doteasy is NOT the way to go.

Comments: I have several accounts with Doteasy, and I`ve been with it for many years, now. The customer service is okay, but you will be better off if you know what you`re doing and just need the space. There are a couple of features I`d like Doteasy to offer, such as .htaccess files, but it has been gradually improving as time goes on. It`s FTP upload is now much more solid than before, and I can`t remember the last time its servers went down. The bottom line is that it really is free with no strings attached, and you get a usable site with e-mail and FTP.

Comments: I am a web master for over 200 hundreds websites. Before I switched all my websites over to doteasy, I asked them for the transfer fee waiver instructions. At first, I only transferred 3 web sites to them. After one month, I have successfully waived one of my transfer fee. Then I gradually submitted another 15 web sites, I then saved another US $245 transfer fee for their wonderful transfer fee waiver program. I have now successfully transferred my 60 clients to doteasy and I will continue transferring all my clients to them too. After transferring my clients to doteasy, they said that the hosting services are more stable than my previous web hosting company.

Comments: I am a computer idiot and I dunno anything about how to create a website. Dotasy called me and confirmed my order and I just asked them how to put my files to the website. The girl who confirmed my order said she would pass my case to technical support team. Their response was so fast!!! I got a call from Doteasy technical staff and they patiently taught me how to do that!!! I am really impressed by Doteasy customer service! Also, I paid only $25 dollars and enjoy the $0 hosting plan which I think is a good deal!

Comments: Doteasy is not easy. They provide no phone support and they only get back to you when they feel like it. It took over 24 hours for them to get back to me. The shut down our website due to a credit care auth issue related to spam filter sign up (typo) now they are holding the site hostage for another $15 (they call it a reactivation fee). They will use any excuse to get your site shut down so they can extract this fee from you. A simple mis-understant and we are down now for over a week.

But the BIGGEST problem I ran into was their forwarding e-mail. Every time I had an email sent to me it would take HOURS to get to my yahoo e-mail inbox. I will never use them again and recommend you don`t either. This site isn`t good for amateurs or pros.

Comments: Their support is by e-mail only and if they get back to you at all (1 out of 10 e-mails seems to get a reply) it will be 1-2 weeks later. Their outgoing mail server rejects about 50% of messages. Their anti spam fire wall costs 6.95 per month and does not block the spam I would avoid them, I found this site because I am looking for a new host!

Comments: This is the worst experience I have ever had on the web. Our 501C3 NON-PROFIT CHARITY was ripped off by these animals.$466. because of a dispute over the exchange rate which they trick you into. I asked for a dipute, And we were correct, our bank recharged the correct amounts to them . Then they locked our accounts and would not turn them back on unless we were to pay an extra $125 re-activation fee plus a $25 bank fee for each of our three accounts. Extortionist. I hope I can get the word out. They never returned our money and we did not have the extra $200 to get things reactivated...So they have our money, and we have Nothing. Thanks dotsleazy !

Comments: I have been trying to get Doteasy to release my domain to my new registrar which they have now held up for over ten days. My business website and e-mails are now down and I have had to contact them numerous times. They are now stating it may be another five days and as they are not open over the weekend, this translates in reality to seven days! I transferred another domain name at the same time from another provider and the process took four days and was completely painless. I cannot urge people strongly enough to keep away from Doteasy.

Comments: Doteasy is horrible. Get this, I sign up for 1 year hosting renewel and 1 year domain renewel. They charge me every 11 months... not 12. Then, now they are charging me every 6 motnhs, and LOCKED MY ACCOUNT because I would not pay a year renewel fee every 6 months. They told me they changed there policy. Now, I also notice they have been charging me card more money then they were supposed to. I am on the free service, why am I paying 41.70 yearly, AND 42.67 every year for hosting? Free = 83.and some cents? That does not make sense. Right now I am sittin gon h old, its been 10 minutes and they are tellng me to leave a message, they wont answer the phone. Forget the 24 hour response, my 2 websites have now been down for days and no response. This website sucks.

Comments: I feel completely ripped off by Doteasy: - They have a hidden charge for the domain which is far more expensive than any other domain provider - When transferring the hosting I followed the tutorial they supplied where they failed to say that the dns address I should use was not the one in the tutorial... my service got interrupted for a whole week and their support people were rude when I asked for help - I kept getting error messages when sending or receiving e-mails bigger than 2 Megs and when I asked support they said they couldn`t help because it appeared to be a problem on my end - They WILL NOT refund a cent of my money. I lost $60 but learned a great lesson: stick with the big companies like godaddy and hostgator who actually care about their service and understand that people will simply stop coming to them if they perform poorly I DO NOT recommend Doteasy to anyone!

Comments: The hosting is very limiting so a transfer for my client was necessary. This also meant transferring the domain. Despite following all their instructions for transfer and receiving two written confirmations, Doteasy has sat on the domain and has refused to release it. It`s been ten days and counting. Finally I had to contact them by phone which was a long distance charge (no toll #) and was serviced by a support person who kept changing her story, was rude, and refused to pass me along to a supervisor or anyone else who could resolve the issue. Even more disgusting? The support person I had actually wrote a glowing review on another review site pretending to be a customer. That is sad.

Comments: July 23, 2007 I `ve been using doteasy, for about 10 sites, since 2003, when one of my design professors suggested it. I `ve always been satisfied with doteasy, and they have gotten even better over time. I `ve never had a problem with their pricing (as other reviewers have mentioned), although, as with any purchase, I inspect the price tag before I transact. Doteasy `s price for buying a domain name is not the cheapest around. It usually costs about $25 (although there are occasional specials). Doteasy `s price for hosting *is* the cheapest. Simple hosting is free, and includes no banners/ads on your site, plus you get 1GB monthly bandwidth, 100MB storage, 10 emails (plus aliases), and lots of handy tools, like website-builder, guestbook, contact form etc. For $8-$10 p/m you get unmetered bandwidth, 20GB storage, unlimited email accounts, and loads of free scripts, with support. (dynamic photo galleries, CMS, chat, discussion board, wiki, poll, blog, calendar, e-commerce, social networking etc.). This stuff is basically open-source, but it `s helpful to have it in one place, vetted and supported, especially for non-programmers. They will install the scripts for you, and the customer service has always been prompt (=same-day) in my experience. I `ve generally had technical requests (changing settings in some restricted files, e.g. php.ini), and I get clear, correct, concise answers every time. Sometimes I have seen brief down-time (<5 min.) on my free-hosting sites. I `ve never noticed it on my paid-hosting sites. Nobody has ever complained to me afer using doteasy on my rec.

Comments: I used to like this doteasy. They were just a simple no frills host. I had been with them since 1999 using their free hosting (which if you consider the cost of registering with them costs the same as go daddy but you don’t have access to php or databases or anything other than html pages, it’s not actually free.) But recently they went through some changes and have become absolutely HORRIBLE. First they started an auto renewal plan (ok most companies now do this) but they did it to their old customers without telling us. I first found out about this when they unscrupulously charged my credit card without my permission. When I complained about this to the so-called customer service people where amazingly rude and refused to do anything about the problem. I had to go to my credit card company to get the charge refunded. Then the problem got worse – they registered the name themselves. That shouldn’t have been a problem except that I had accidentally done a good job with SEO and now when doing a Google search that domain name shows up with all of my information. It’s mind boggling to me that any company would treat their customers (esp. old time customers) this badly. Do not use this company they have some serious management problems

Comments: I would not recommend this hosting company, especially for anyone that needs reliability for their site. I have an online store and after installing a shopping cart, Doteasy made a change to their server that disabled it (without sending any notification to me, of course). I submitted a service ticket and called them as well. Nobody answers their technical support line, and I did not receive a response to my service ticket request for several days. I lost hundreds of dollars of revenue because of their poor technical support. Immediately following this I switched to a new host. Apparently I had authorized Doteasy to automatically renew my service, however, and they charged my card for another year of service. I called for a refund and was told that I would be emailed a refund form. In order to get a refund, I have to print the refund form, fill it out with a full page of information, photocopy my credit card (front and back) and fax all this back to them within two days of my call. Give me a break. Their refund process is obviously designed to discourage people from getting their money back--and all this after they already provided me with terrible service. Take your business elsewhere!

Comments: I am currently hosting as many as 10 sites with Doteasy. Every time I have an issue or a question, they reply within 24 hours, and they must actually read my emails because they don`t give generic answers. They actually understand what I`m saying and what I need and they reply accordingly. I`ve never, and I mean NEVER, had an unresolvable issue with these people. They are honest, best quality, and most of all accessible! I`m tired of dealing with support staff that never answer, never understand, and send generic replies filled with advertisements for more of their services. Why would I want more from them when they can`t handle what they have? Doteasy has NEVER been that way with me, and I`m extremely glad to work with them; enough so that I`ve never even tried anyone else and never will! Out of 5 available thumbs, I give them 100 thumbs up!

I had a request for them to install Zen-Cart for me and not only did they install it, they even set it up for me! All I had to do was load my products.
