Comments: I personally don't like the service. If you go over the bandwith, they freeze your service giving you a month to reset your webpage. I choose freewebspace.com over them anyday.

Comments: Freewebs = Brilliant! I have used freewebs for about 6 months now, and have found their free service excellent for beginners. Although there is minimal space allowed (not great for photos etc) it is easy and simple to use and has a great range of site templates. Their help service is excellent and provide a range of add ons for both free or paid services. I have now upgraded to a paid site, but the free sites I can highly recommend.

Comments: All this misleading quote about 'No Catch' by freewebs is irritating. I opened an account yesterday. I have to upload one file at a time. Ok. I know I should not ask too much when it is free. But today, I was told that I could not upload more than 50 files. What? Lousy site. Now I have to search for another free website.

Comments: ...I just paid a lot of cash to upgrade to premium and got (nothing) for my hassles. The site builder is a joke and the online "help" they provide is useless! FREEWEBS SHOULD COME CLEAN AND TIDY UP THEIR ACT score 0-10

Comments: Hi, my review is of FreeWebs.com. I signed up with them a couple months ago, after researching hosts (in part from your great site, thanks) and it seemed like the best free host out there for my needs. The site looks professional and it is layed out very well. Sign up was simple, the site manager is really easy to use and everything runs fast. And the one time I had a problem, I wrote to technical support and they replied within a day. Plus, they require no ad banners or pop-ups, just a small link back to them at the bottom of the page. This was what I found the most appealing about this host and was the main reason why I chose it. If I had one complaint, it would be that they don't offer FTP to free members, so it gets a bit tedious uploading file after file. But this wasn't a big deal to me considering what you get in return. Then when I went to work on my site about a week ago, I tried to upload a file and was informed that I was only allowed 50 files. Since when did this happen? Couldn't they have had the courtesy to inform their members about this? I wrote to technical support, but they haven't replied so far. I don't think they're going to. So now I'm stuck with a site that's basically frozen in time, since I can still edit my existing pages but not upload any new ones. This wouldn't be such a problem, but my site isn't finished yet. I guess the problem would be solved if became a paying member, but I am a student and I cannot afford to do that. And since I can't just leave things this way, it looks like I will have to look for a new host now. It's too bad-Freewebs really had something good going. I wish they hadn't screwed up so bad.

Comments: Sure you can get 100mb for free at freewebs, but you are only allowed 50 files max! what's the point of getting so much space if you're only allowed 50 files? Also their servers are excessively slow and through my 5 months of hosting here I've experienced at least 3 downtimes a month. Bad host if you ask me.

Comments: I have been hosted with Freewebs.com for a year now and was adequately happy with the service. Yes, I got 100mb for free but they had excessivley slow servers and downtime. The other problem that I had with this hosting company is that they only allow you to upload one file at a time. You have to buy their FTP service for multiple uploads. So I gave them a chance since it was free. Then, with no prior notice, they decided to allow only 50 files to be uploaded. Now I can't add any further pages or pictures to my site. I email for information on the situation and this is the reply that I got: "Dear FreeWebs User, We apologize for the inconvience. This new policy came into effect last weekend. Best Regards, FreeWebs" Too bad I didn't know about this new policy!!! My question is why give you so much space to use if you can't use it. I guess this is their way of making you buy a hosting package or move elsewhere. Quickly becoming a not so good deal.

Comments: I don't really have any bad or good opinions about freewebs. Just realise that, just like Prohosting, Tripod, Geocities and the rest, they are all really six to half a dozen. Of course the front page of Freewebs, comes accross with the glowing words, "No Banners", "No Pop-ups". I just went into it, just for the heck of it, as I'm always interested in new developments. After going through a five page registration, they punch you right in the stomach with it, "File size limitations", "Conservative Bandwidth Limit", and the killer of them all, no ftp uploading, you gotta do it "one file at a time". Again, you have to pay for all these functions. Great, if you have a week off, to upload all your files.

Comments: In an era where the “free” internet has gone kapoot, FreeWebs.com is one of the only true free web hosting services left. While others require banner ads, popups, or purchasing a domain name (like doteasy.com and they call it free?), FreeWebs.com has remained free, with premium services that are only optional. They offer 100Mb of webspace an incredible site builder, and great add-ons. While some still do not know about them, their rating on ALEXA has skyrocketed, recently surpassing geocities.com. I am shocked that you have neglected to include them in your 100 best hosting services, under “Free hosting”. FreeWebs really is as they say, “The Next Generation of Free Web Hosting”

Comments: You can only upload a maximum of 50 files onto your site regardless how big the files are. My website is smaller than 1 MB but I can't upload it because it contains over 50 files that are only about 3k each. You can have more than 50 files by becoming a premium member but this has risen from the cost of just $1 to about $9 a month. If you want lots of files on your website, don't choose this web host.

Comments: Disappointment w/ freewebs.com The information you provide is outdated as of August 2003. I signed up with them to host my homepage but I had to learn (after the signup process) that FTP is not supported anymore. Instead you need to use a java script to upload your files one by one. Multiple file-uploading requires - as I was informed when I needed it - full membership (=payment). Okay, I went for the single upload method, worked offline on my page and when I was finsihed doing that an information came up that a free account only allows up to 20 files! 100 MB and twenty files! I completely dislike this way of catching people\'s attention, and then sneakily try to have them sign up to the charged services. My suggestion: find an affordable host from early on but disregard \"freewebs.com\". I deleted all filed from my account and never went back there.

Comments:  Unlimited space, no banner ads, easy site builder - perfect for beginners. Weaknesses: they seem to have problems with their editing methods. Since I'm a beginner, and am not html literate, their template is very important. Of late, it has not been very functional. Sometimes allows me to load pictures to my site, sometimes not. Sometimes allows me to edit paragraphs, sometimes not. It seems to be very touchy lately. On the plus side, no pop-ups, no ads, and an easy template to work with. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure it out. You can choose beginner or advanced, so you can use html to design your own site.

Comments: I 've been with Freewebs for almost a year now, and they are the best hosting company I have ever seen. Reliability- 100%. Site Builder- 5/5. Customer Service- I wouldn't know, having never needed to use it in almost a year. These guys are great, and supply a great service at no charge. Overall rating- 6 out of 5 stars!

Comments: I chose the option (for $79 a year) to have premium services for my freewebs site. The site works very well, and the tools are great, but they made a mistake on my DNS, and my email for my domain has been down for 5 days, despite at least 15 emails to tech support (from my other address). There is no phone number to call, so I'm stuck until they decide they want to respond. Very very VERY frustrating. Especially since I actually PAY for this service.

Comments: FreeWebs is a breath of fresh air! After looking through several free hosts, I finally found what I`m looking for. One of the easiest site builders and my site looks so professional! They give plenty of space and great addons, plus free site promotion, even free web commerce tools, and their premium services start at $1.30 / mo. I think everyone should try FreeWebs before settling on another host.

Comments: Freewebs may be okay for free [what isnt lol] but for a paid host it really is not what I would advise. My site doesnt function almost 10% of the time. Support is useless, literally. My links will redirect to their pages instead. And I pay. I greatly regret starting a site with freewebs, and advise anyone who is serious and wants a decent website not to use freewebs. If you are some 15 year old and want a freebie site that maybe 5 of your mates will go on, well use it, thats cool, but if you want a professional functioning site for paying adults, not what I would reccomend. It is also extremely expensive comparitive to other hosts. Take the time to get a proper host, learn a bit use wordpress.org, joomla or something instead.

Comments: Don`t believe everything they tell you! The only thing they`re constantly working on is making free members` task of running & advancing the capabilities of their website much more difficult! I was 1 of the first people to sign up with them, things were great, `til they disabled support for most types of Javascript (some have been re-enabled, but not all)...Speaking of support , their Technical Support is beyond a JOKE! Plus, they now place an extrememly ugly & intrusive banner ad at the top of EVERY page on the site, which extends from 1 end of the page, to the other..In short, LOOK ELSEWHERE!!!

Comments: I started using Freewebs in August 2006. I had been writing for years, had little published and wanted the world to see my work. Having found Freewebs through a serach engine, I thought I`d give them a try. I wasn`t disappointed. The page editor is so easy to use. With a little effort and thought it`s possible to produce some excellent pages. Even my young children agreed as they too logged in to produce their own websites without difficulty. It wasn`t long before I went for their premium service to get some extra space, and the price for this was extremely good. As time has passed, Freewebs have added Guestbooks, Blogs, Forums, and countless other Widgets, all of which have only improved the service and the quality of the sites which can be produced. To see what I`ve done, go to www.freewebs.com/michaelradbourne. I`ve tried to make use of as many of their features as possible. If someone wanted to know where they could go to build a website, I would not hesitate in recommending Freewebs.

Comments: Most of the rave reviews must reflect Freewebs` past performance. My free site has a large banner running across the top as well as a link back to them at the bottom. I was originally in love with the ease of use and the great tools, templates, and widgets available, but found that nothing works for 7 days. Free site holders are under a Provisional Period during which nothing works. Freewebs doesn`t tell you about this provisional period anywhere so you can spend hours trying to fix your site which isn`t really broken. From my experience, they tend to be rather slow, and the operation of their own site seems buggy and inoperable about half of the time when I use it. If you do decide to try it for all their neat tools, do yourself a favor and don`t announce it to any of your potential subscribers until your 7 day provisional period is over as your visitors will experience erratic behavior on your site. The live chat has been pretty helpful, but pretty much all they`ve told me so far is come back in 7 days... I just read about the 50 file limit which is another strike against them. And the maximum of 25 form submissions is goofy. My experience in sales dictates that you overdeliver on service rather than underdeliver if you want rave reviews and customers for life. Freewebs definitely underdelivers on the promises proclaimed in their ad copy. Still, depending on your use, it might be worth giving a whirl if you want a simple and easy to use website. Since most people are fired up when they sign up for a site and are excited about building it, most will be disappointed when nothing will work right for 7 days. If you`re a patient person, my best advice is to sign up and forget about it for 7 days then go back and work on it.

Comments: FreeWebs made building my own website so easy. It was fast and simple. I receive many, many compliments about how beautiful my site is. FreeWebs has so many options for both the inexperienced and very experienced. I was thrilled that among their many templates I found one that allowed me to completely customize my site so that it reflects the exact look I was seeking. I am 100% happy with their service.

Comments: I`ve just started using freewebs about a week ago. So far, it`s great! They have a fair variety of layouts to choose from and a lot of page options that I`ve not found on any other website before. From what I`ve read, you can only upload 50 files. I know this makes a lot of other people angry, but there are plenty of free image hosting sites out there. I think 50 is fine -- especially since it`s free. I love that they`re not overbearing with their advertisements. No banners, no pop-ups. If I could change anything, I wish that I could tweak my layout a bit more. You can only pick from premade layouts. Also, your layouts look weird when you try to open them to a full-screen view. They`re only made for a smaller window. Other than that, I love it. So far Freewebs is working great for me! I definitely recommend.

Comments: The slow server doesn`t bother me and it`s the only reason they get one point short of a ten. I`ve been free hosted with Freewebs for more than two years now and have free accounts with many others as well. It`s the best of all of them. There are other places that will store, hold and even send my data past 50 files for free and all I have to do is add links to those other places. It`s not all that much trouble to go to considering the Freewebs service IS free and with no banners like all of the others I use. I love Freewebs!

Comments: I actually loved freewebs. I think most people don`t enjoy it because they don`t know HTML. If you know HTML then its super easy to use. my other host was a joke, but freewebs is like a dream come true for me. They don`t have any popups and its easy to edit my site.
