Wordpress Blog Software
Blogs are quickly becoming the most popular form of website on the internet today. Everybody has a blog, from your Grandma to your Doctor, from your college professor to your next door neighbor. It seems as though blogs are taking over the web. Blogs are a form of web hosting and using blog software is probably the easiest and fastest way to build a web site. As the battle for blog superiority continues, Wordpress has come out on top as the king of blogs.
Blogs come in many shapes and sizes but wordpress has mastered the art of catering to the masses. The first thing blog users do when they start a blog is to find a unique web design called a theme. Wordpress themes are available by the thousands. Most of the popular wordpress themes are available for free and you can browse through them using the worpress theme viewer. After you find a them that you like you can get right to work posting on your new blog. Wordpress makes it easy to post to your blog and the general public has found their blog software to be very easy to use. The admin area is intuitive but most people will never use many of the various functions available. Most of us are happy to login write a post and add a few images. One of my favorite things about Wordpress is the wide variety of plugins available to do cool things with your blog. A popular plugin that comes pre-installed with most wordpress blogs is the Akismet plugin. The akismet plugin helps to keep spammers from blasting your posts full of spammy comments. And believe me, it works like a charm. I am using Akismet on my personal blog and so far to date Akismet has caught 1167 comments from spammers. I never have to look at them unless morbid curiousity gets the best of me. Wordpress also has a very loyal following of developers and programmers who are constantly updated the software and making it better. If you ever have a problem or a question regarding your wordpress blog, help is only a Google search away. Forums and FAQs are plentiful regarding nearly every aspect of the wordpress blog software. You can sign up for your own free wordpress blog at the official wordpress web site. If you already have hosting or a website and want to install the free blog software yourself you can download the latest version here.
